EDGE FROM THE BACK, 1994

In 1994 The Edge created the photo installation Edge from the Back. It was part of the program of the International Photographic Meetings – Plovdiv’94. This event had already established its reputation as a highly professional event in the field of photography. In spite of that until 1994 the event showcased mainly traditional photography. In this context the installation Edge from the Back acquired the status of an art work that was “destroying” the accepted framework of the International Photographic Meetings in the Old Town of Plovdiv. Underneath each one of the photographs the author had put their shoes. Only these pairs of shoes remained in the common space for creative activity although the world of each one of the artists had moved on to the private space of the author, closely guarded from the external gaze.
